  • MOVEMENT CONTROL

MOVEMENT CONTROL

In general natural timber expands and contracts during temperature changes, INNOWOOD also inevitably incur some movement as they are produced using recycled wood flour as a major component.
To combat this, INNOWOOD has designed and developed a series of systems that restrict and control the product movement. The amount of movement is directly linked to the level of temperature change. As a guide, expansion is expected to be controlled at an average of 2mm per metre in hot weather (assuming both ends and joints are properly locked or fixed as per the INNOWOOD INSTALLATION MANUAL instructions.

For different INNOWOOD products, different movement controls are recommended which can be found in the respective product Installation manual.

CORNER SOLUTION

INNOWOOD Starter and Corner Trim Angles are designed to control and conceal material movement, while simultaneously helping to keep the board secured in place and improving the appearance of the corners and edges with a clean finish.

CORNER SOLUTION

FACE FIX CONTROL

Face Fix method is used when there are butt joints to make sure there is no movement at the butt joints. And at the same time, Face Fix must be used the screw at both ends of all boards.

CONCEALED FLATBAR CONTROL

INNOWOOD provides an option of using an aluminium T bar to go in between the butt joint in order to conceal the butt joint fixings.

CUT SURFACE PROTECTION

The cut surface must be sealed with a layer of protective coating such as a water-based deck sealer before installation.

ANY REFLECTIVE SURFACES

Design Consideration: Metal or reflective roofing can add to the heat load of the cladding due to UV rays reflecting off the surface which may adversely affect the Innowood product under normal installation conditions. Therefore, additional supports or shorter spans is required to counter this. The same is also required for using the product in an extremely hot condition with no ventilation.

Please contact INNOWOOD to obtain the additional design consideration requirement for project specific.
